The work of Mattia Urlotti (Scandiano, RE) moves between the rigor of vision and the strength of substance. His is a multidisciplinary research that sees in the writing the origin of thought, in photography conceptual the visual synthesis and in the painting material the physical landing: a necessary path to define space through matter.
After studying economics and law and a career in business, Urlotti chose to eliminate the superfluous. The analytical rigor of his past is transformed into artistic intent and critical ability, where aesthetics merge with the essential to get straight to the point.
The Photographer of Silence
For over twenty years, photography has been his chosen medium. His works, exhibited and awarded at national and international festivals, explore the essence of objects and time. Defined as a "photographer of silence," Urlotti has used his lens to isolate fragments of reality and transform them into concepts. This phase is collected in the project Poegrafia and in the volume Ti scatto una parola (Albatros, 2020), where the image finds its definitive synthesis in the encounter with poetry.
The Word and Criticism
For Urlotti, writing isn't just an accessory, but a tool for analysis and dissemination. A former contributor to industry publications and blogs, his writing ranges from philosophical reflection to cultural criticism. Through words, Urlotti theorizes the relationship between humanity, space, and expressive languages, bringing the same clarity and depth of his photography to the written page.
Matter and Synthesis “URLO”
The Urlotti investigation finds its definitive synthesis today in the brand URLO brand. Here, vision is no longer limited to a single medium, but becomes a total experience that invades space. From metaphysical photography to the material paintings of serie Physis; from 3D painting of Polis From wall installations to paintings, each work is conceived to assert an absolute presence in the space. There is no longer a distinction between the depth of the shot and the volume of the substance: everything contributes to an essential aesthetic that physically interacts with the viewer.
Today, in his laboratory, Mattia Urlotti cultivates his research through photography, writing and matter, translating his vision into unique works and objects. The result is a multidisciplinary production designed for environments with a defined character, where the work is not a complement, but the element that determines theidentity of space.
